Shake them up together, add a Bank Holiday weekend, a poet’s centenary…and what have you got?

MMW headerA four-day festival of art, music and literature in the grounds of Oystermouth Castle.

This late Spring Bank Holiday – 23rd – 26th May – the recently restored castle will play host to a variety of artists, writers and musicians.

The weekend will open on the Friday with a Samba Tawe carnival procession around the Castle and then there will be music from local legends Disco Panther.

Dylan Thomas The Pubs -  Jeff TownsOn the Saturday we have Dylan Thomas day with the Dylan man himself Jeff Towns talking about the Dylan myth. Jeff will also be interviewing Sir Peter Blake, famous for his ground-breaking art work, such as the cover for the Beatles’ Sergeant Pepper Album, will be talking about his much-praised illustrations for Dylan Thomas’s Under Milk Wood. The Do Not Go Gentle festival form Uplands curate an event on this day also. Then there is the music, and lots of it Peter Blake 1and for all tastes: jazz, blues, classics…Dave Cottle Trio, Gary Philips, Taff Williams and finally on the Saturday evening a night of Sinatra, Bublè and Monroe with Jeff Hooper Swing Easy Band!

Sunday is the big Mumbles Proms days with music all afternoon and then the big finale being the Festival Orchestra of Wales preforming rousing anthems from film and shows, plus some classical gas!! Lots of Welshness and flag waving to be here!!!

On Monday there will be a mediaeval Fayre and picnic. To start us off we have Swansea favourite son Kevin Johns who will bring his one man show Taffy Shakespeare to us  in the morning. Because Swansea knows how to feed the body as well as the soul, there will be food, cafes, bars and booths for as long as the Festival is open.
